Free Music Software

Well, Folks, It's Been a While

I have been traveling around Central Europe for a month, then moving back to the States for a while. Thus, I have not been posting info here lately. I left the aggregator going, though, for fresh info to be on the site. ;)

At any rate, I figure I owe those people out there who are interested an explanation about what is happening with cmanifestations.net and all the other sites that I have in this network including freewiki.info, freemusicsoftware.info, freelanguage.org, freethesounds.org, anonymousphoto.com, mandarinchinese.info, woodriff.org, freereality.org and mychinablog.com. Not to mention the many more that I have in the works and have no released just yet.

Well... here goes.

I am going, little by little, to update or just plain start over, with each of the sites using the newly updated and really sweet Drupal 4.7 content management system (galore). I want to keep up the work with putting lots and lots of information out on the web for free - info that has to do with the things I am most interested in. I think that if it works out to make a living by putting free information on the web, researching what I love and having a few (unobnoxious) text ads and affiliate-encoded links throughout the quality info, I will be a happier person that I already am. :)

For the time being I am working like mad to release a drupalized version of the Heart of the Initiate website. The folks over there are wonderful beings and we are working together to get their site brought up the speed with the wonderful world of Web 2.0.

Until I get that site up and running - and it is a big one - I will be putting off the upgrades of the cmanifestations sites.

No worries though! The new sites will be released in a timely fashion, as well as the old ones to be upgraded.

In fact, I am really looking forward to it.

So please do keep checking in as I will be leaving some notes of progress as I move along.

If you have not already done so, you can keep up easily by signing up for my Feedburner RSS/XML Feed.

Free Music Software Updates 031006

Today I spent a while tweaking out the menus on the top of Free Music Software to give people a better way to quickly access to the free music software applications on the site. I categorized them by actions such as Capture, Analyze, Loop, Effect, Master, etc.

When I get another moment, I am going to seriously clean up the category structure which is a little crazy right now. This will be done when the new Drupal 4.7 stable release comes out.

In the next week I will be adding a few more really nice applications, so keep an eye out!

Working with Technorati and Some General Info

Today I spent quite a while working with my account on Technorati. I claimed five of my blogs (Free Music Software, Anonymous Photo, Free Wiki, Free the Sounds and Free Language).

It takes a while to do it all properly, but I am hoping that this will drive traffic to my sites - traffic that will be people looking for this info that I provide! So it works all around.

It is a good idea to use this sort of service because it is free and it can considerably improve both your placement with the search engines, as well as driving relevant traffic to your site.

I also worked quite a bit on the new Free Reality, which I will release this week and which will use Drupal instead of Geeklog. This is the last site to migrate over to Drupal!

Other sites are in the works, but I have to continue updating the current ones before I get too involved in new ones.

Tomorrow I am going to claim My China Blog, add another software to Free Music Software and add a bunch of stuff to Free Language. Also, I will write some here about the benefits of Feedburner, which is free.

Added Beast to Free Music Software

Today I added Beast to Free Music Software.

The line-up grows! I am planning on adding nine more over the next two weeks.

Added Mixxx to Free Music Software

Today I added Mixxx to Free Music Software.

The whole taxonomy thing with Drupal is rather time consuming - at least, if you want to get it right! I thought out the categories pretty well for the Free Music Software website, but every time I add a new software, it seems that I have to add new categories as well. This, I suppose, is just part of the fun.

Soonish, I am going to add in some extra links on a block to allow people to perform quick linked searches like "OS X + Free Audio Catpure Applications + GPL License" and things like that.

Soon come...

A More Open, Personal and Helpful conscious manifestations

Little by little things are coming together with my whole concious manifestations web world.

Currently, the sites that I have up and running to some degree or another are:

Free Music Software Application Info
Free Language
Free the Sounds
Free Wiki (Current biggest hitter.)
Free Reality
Anonymous Photo
My China Blog
Small World Servers

There are so many more that I want to do, but there is also so much work that I have left to do on these sites!

Depending on what day it is and what I am most interested in working on, I work on a given site, updating the content, adding more feeds, doing design work, tweaking out Drupal mods, etc.

Today I opened up the comments for this site conscious manifestations because I want to let people give me feedback about what they see in my sites, what they like, what they don't like, etc. I am currently moderating and apporving these comments manually in order to prevent spam.

I am amazed at how quickly Google and other engines pick up things that I put on this site! I put up a link 24 hours ago to a new site that I am doing with a friend (not a conscious manifestation, but a side project about our travels) called Transcombouge and already the search engines have indexed it and the content is up on the engines! This is a site that had not even been indexed before!

One thing I am pondering on right now is how to best keep a blog for these sites. Should I keep one blog for all the sites here on cmanifestations.net and send people here from the other sites to this site to catch up on what the latest happenings are for that site? Or should I just keep a blog on each site and let them stay on site for the blog info? Both seem to have their advantages and disadvantages. It is a lot of work to keep up all those blogs, and it is a lot easier to keep one central one here. But it is really nice to keep people on the site to get the blog info...

At any rate, I am rambling.

The point is that lately (as in the last few days), I have decided that I am going to share on this site much more about what is going on behind the scenes with the building of the conscious manifestations network. It is a unique recipe that I have come up with that will hopefully bring in enough money through affiliates and text ads to pay for the domain names and hosting and my time.

I want to share with people how this process is unfolding because, if and when I am successful with these sites, I would like to have the info out there for free for people who might also be interested in doing what I am doing, which is essentially making a living by putting out free information about all the things that I am interested in, holding the energetic concept that if I give it all for free, people will come and I will make enough on clicks here and there that I can continue to disseminate free information for people to benefit from.

I would like people to have a virtual roadmap of how I did it so they can know intimately how they can do it as well. It is a powerful feeling to be able to work on what you are interested in all day, putting all of it out there for free for the rest of the world to benefit from.

That is today's ramble. Things are going to get more personal now. I hope you enjoy!

:)

Free Music Software Application Info Updates 021006

I have been working quite a bit on this site lately. I have made a few major updates to the navigation as well as adding more applications and categorizing the info better. Here are the main three block and their content from the left side:

Free Music Software Applications
Ardour
Audacity
OpenSebj
Rosegarden

Free Music Software Bootable Live Distros
AGNULA

Nice Audio Links
Our Growing Links Page

When I get the chance next I am going to add a new live distro called AmaroK Live and add blocks that will allow for better quick catrgorization of the aspects of applications that people are looking for, much like I have done with Free Wiki, but obviously with many more options.

Keep checking in!
